Hi guys! Muli Shani Bonse? I have been in town for about a week now, helping out with "Girls Career Week", an annual program that the volunteers in Northern Province put on. Although it was stressful and at times it felt as if everything was spinning out of control, I would say it was an overall success. I'm sure most of the girls returned to their villages with at least a new perspective.
Because I am in an incredible hurry to get this in the mail before I leave, this letter is going to be incredibly short... However, I've sent literally 100s of new photos to be posted online soon, so you'll all forgive me, right? Okay, time to break this up into sections... Enjoy!
Welcome Home, Sanity... It's Been A While
As many (or probably all) of you well know, I have been taking an anti-malarial medication for the past 9 months that has been playing games with my mind- And these weren't fun games, mind you. They were the freaky, shadows coming alive and having conversations with me types of games. The sort of thing that not only blurs the distinction between what's real and what's not, but makes you question if there even is a difference between reality and fiction... And if so, did I ever really know where one stopped and the other began? Ugh... These were the types of thoughts I used to have every morning as I woke up and tried to make sense of what happened to me throughout the night. Anyway, I think you will all be happy to know that I have recently switched my medication (I am now taking Doxycycline), and I have been delusion-free for about a month now... "Hello, my name is Erin Wolf and I am NOT a raging lunatic on the verge of going psycho on my villagers because I haven't had a full night's sleep in 9 months because a sneaky shadow man has been hanging out in my hut with me and the rest of my drug-induced delusions." This is where you're supposed to say: "Hell, Erin... Here, have a beer." (Haha!)
Okay, I've got to go... Sorry this was so short, but I assure you my next entry will have much more to share with you. Until then, take care and have a Happy Thanksgiving! I miss you guys!
Shalenipo,
Erin
